Family remembers loved one on Walk of Fame
On a day when the WHAS Crusade for Children held it’s annual Brick-a-thon, one family visited the Walk of Fame to honor a loved one.
“He was a brother, a son, a friend, amazing man. ”
The King family gathered around the block at Sixth and Chestnut Streets to celebrate the life of Blaine King. The 24-year-old young man died in June of 2007 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
The family says the engraved brick on the Walk of Fame brings comfort and they manage humor even through their tears.
“He always wanted property downtown, yeah. He’s an investor, so he owns a piece of it now,” said a loving family member.
The family says the memorial block on the Walk of Fame brings the family together and helps them to deal with their loss.

The WHAS Crusade for Children held its annual Brick-a-thon on Saturday, October 4, 2008 from 6:00am to 10:00am. It’s a fun and fund-raising project to generate donations for the Crusade Endowment to ensure the Crusade will be here to help thousands more in the generations to come. More than $2,000 was raised for the endowment fund.
