Special needs children are the real winners in Baby Calendar Contest

As revealed on Sunday morning June 6, 2010 as part of the 57th annual WHAS Crusade for Children, here are the final results of the WHAS Crusade for Children Baby Calendar.

This 4th annual WHAS Crusade for Children Baby Calendar raised $15,653.87!

It was gathered over months by moms, dads, grandparents, friends and relatives supporting their favorite babies. Congratulations on the great support for children with special needs.

The Wilkins twins have been awarded the Baby Calendar cover since their supporters raised the most donations to the WHAS Crusade for Children.

The next 15 babies after the Wilkins will have a month cover photo. The babies who follow #16 will have a photo on a day of the year.

Sunday afternoon Barn One at the Joe Huber Family Farm was rocking for a good cause.

The Marlins played to a packed house as the Huber family honored the founder of their farm and restaurant, Joe Huber. The annual Joe Huber Memorial Concert featured food as well as music. The goal was to raise money to help youngsters served by the WHAS Crusade for Children.

Terra Huber-Mahan of the Joe Huber Family Farm said, “The Crusade for Children was the late Joe Huber’s favorite charity. So, it’s a way to keep his memory alive annually and then another way to help a good cause and give back to the Crusade.”

The Huber family expected Sunday’s event to raise several thousand dollars for children with special needs.

How the Crusade works

The WHAS Crusade for Children, Inc. established in 1954 by WHAS-TV, raises money for agencies, schools and hospitals to better the lives of special needs children.

$138 million raised for special needs children
In its first 57 years, the Crusade has raised more than $138 million. Thanks to generous contributions of goods and services, the Crusade is able to return 100 percent of all donations to organizations that serve special needs children in all 120 Kentucky counties and more than 50 southern Indiana counties. Fire departments raise more than 50 percent of the money each year by staging road blocks and other events.
