New radiology suite at Kosair Children’s Hospital is cutting edge

Kosair Children’s Hospital is celebrating a new milestone, thanks in part to the WHAS Crusade for Children.

Crusade CEO Dawn Lee got the first look at Kosair’s new interventional radiology suite.

It’s a project that will allow doctors to treat young patients with less invasive procedures which means less stress and scarring, as well as quicker recovery times.

“This project was a $2.7 million project,” said Tom Kmetz, President of Kosair Children’s Hospital. “We came to understand that we were going to run $800,000 to $1 million short of being able to support this project, and so the Crusade was able to step up and help us with that.”

The staff expects to treat 3,000 to 4,000 youngsters a year in the new interventional radiology suite. In fact, two children have already benefited from the suite’s cutting edge technology.
