Your Crusade donations fund Exceptional Equitation
The WHAS Crusade for Children was an early champion of Kentucky’s first equine therapy program, Exceptional Equitation. Shelly Prete, the owner of the LaGrange-based farm says since 1981 the Crusade has provided funding for safety equipment and educational supplies which have allowed hundreds of children with special needs to learn and grow while enjoying the fun of riding a horse.
With its latest grant from the Crusade, Exceptional Equitation is growing itself. Now not only do youngsters learn to ride but they can learn stable management, animal care and other farm-related activities. Shelly says this vocational education approach allows children to acquire moneymaking skills that will serve them well as they become adults.
