Events spark fundraising

June 2-3 will mark the 59th Annual WHAS Crusade for Children! Fire departments, civic groups, companies and organizations are gearing up with events to raise money for special needs children. Here are some recent highlights.

Byerly Ford donating dollars


Byerly Ford chooses the month of May ot help the Crusade! For every oil change and every tire purchased, Byerly will donate $1 to the WHAS Crusade for Children.

La Grange Kiwanis Club


Longtime supporters of the WHAS Crusade for Children, the La Grange Kiwanis Club, bring out the “Big Blue Fish Bus” every Friday at the corner of First and Jefferson Streets in La Grange. It’s your spot for lunch and dinner — open 11am to 8pm — and it’s all for the kids.

Assumption High School


Assumption High School hosted a multi-school softball tourney to raise money for children with special needs. They set a goal of $1500 and topped it!

Kids Connection


It’s an education in reading and generosity. Children from all grades at Kids Connection in Sellersburg, Indiana decided to give back and they chose children with special needs as their beneficiary.

Papa Murphy’s


For the month of May, Papa Murphy’s Take-n-Bake Pizza will donate $1 for every Taco Grande pizza sold…to the WHAS Crusade for Children!

Win a one of a kind fire helmet!

Okolona Fire Department is holding a raffle to benefit the WHAS Crusade for Children. It’s a one of a kind fire helmet crafted with care by Glaser’s Collision Center and Taylor’s House of Color. South Oldham FD collecting cell phones & ink cartridges

The South Oldham Fire Department is collecting old cell phones and printer cartridges for recycling. We are now also accepting handheld gaming systems like Nintendo DS, Gameboy and Playstation Portable.
