Kroger Bascart Derby happens Saturday

Kroger to Host Second Annual Bascart Derby
 100% of Proceeds to Benefit Crusade for Children
 Event to be Hosted by Four Local Store Teams

Continuing the long tradition of local Kroger events to support The Crusade for Children, store teams from 5244 Dixie Highway, 10645 Dixie Highway, 7509 Terry Road and 568 River Ridge Plaza in Brandenburg will host the 2nd Annual “Bascart Derby”. The event will be held at the 5244 Dixie Highway Kroger store on Saturday April 24th from 12 noon until 4PM.

The event will include both a bascart race and “best decorated” competition. The winning team from each competition will receive a $100 grand prize. The events are open to the public; the local high schools and middle schools have been invited to participate with their own decorated bascarts. The public is also encouraged to vote for their choice for “Best of Show” between 12 noon and 2:30 PM. Several departments from each Kroger store will design their bascart with either a Derby theme or a department specific theme.

Other activities will include a cookout, cakewalk, games for all ages, a DJ, a pie throwing contest, and a raffle for some amazing gift baskets.

Felicia LaFaille, Associate Manager of the Terry Road Kroger store and creator of the Bascart Derby said, “The event last year went over great not only with the employees but also the community. This year we are expanding the event in an effort to raise even more money for the Crusade”.
